HIGH PERFORMANCE NETWORK ARCHITECTURE

THE PROJECT: HIGH PERFORMANCE NETWORK

Lantech was invited by a client to consult and design a new internal network to support a growing user base and office expansion for 600+ employees which is continually growing and expanding

WHAT WE DID:

Lantech's initial step as with all projects was to conduct a full review, of the existing network infrastructure, operations, management, architecture, utilization, applications. The second step was to conduct a number of sessions with the internal IT team to understand the predicted growth and to understand the current pain points.

From this review which was documented and presented to the client we went about architecting a high-performance fault tolerant and highly efficient network that spans across multiple units, floors and business departments all with their own unique demands on the network.

A process of collaboration with the internal IT team was conducted with a number sessions covering the technical aspects, timeline and deployment process all wrapped up with our Project managed service.

The deployment was rollout on a phased bases with activities occurring during and out of office hours depending on the impact to the business operations. at all times the agreed deadlines were met and the project met it's budgetary targets.

The design comprised of:

  • Location based rather than functional based vlans for staff access (removal of spaghetti vlan's)
  • Functional based vLans for specific technologies and applications
  • Policy based routing and security filtering
  • Cisco infrastructure
  • Fibre backbone with 10Gb bandwidth
  • Fault tolerance at core locations
